What is Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance?
Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance is similar to regular life insurance. If you die in an accident (for example: an automobile accident), your beneficiary will receive the amount of your AD&D coverage in addition to your life insurance benefit. Insurance also pays a benefit if you are seriously injured in an accident. Part of your benefit may be paid to you if you lose a limb (like your arm) or the ability to see, hear, talk or become physically disabled (for example: if you are paraplegic).
